Glory Days Charters is owned and operated by Jeremy Serka. Jeremy was born and raised the son of a commercial fisherman from the small town of Gig Harbor, Washington. From a young age Jeremy was absorbed in the world of fish and fishing. New techniques, rivers, bays and the sparkle of fish scales possessed this boy long into his teenage years. After high school Jeremy attended Western Washington University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. In order to pay for college Jeremy fished on a relative’s commercial fishing boat in southeast Alaska. It was during one of these summers when Jeremy met his wife, Laurie, in Sitka, Alaska.
In 2002 Laurie and Jeremy had their first son, Jacob, in Seattle and decided to move back to the beautiful little fishing village where they first met. Even though Jeremy had been commercial fishing out of Sitka for the last 8 years, he decided to deck-hand on a charter boat that year in order to better learn the fishing grounds and most effective methods for successful charter fishing. The next year Jeremy bought his charter boat the Glory Days and began working as a contract captain for a lodge. Year after year, Jeremy had great success helping guests of the lodge catch fish and fulfill their fishing fantasies; as a result many of the clients rebooked with the lodge specifically to fish with Jeremy.
In 2008 Jeremy decided it was time to go into business for himself. Jeremy has lived in Sitka now for 7 years. He charter fishes from late spring to early fall, builds aluminum boats at Allen Marine in Sitka during the winter, and sells Christmas trees in Seattle during the holiday season. Jeremy knows how to work hard, which becomes evident when you fish with him. He does everything he can to ensure that your trip is the best that it possibly can be. Jeremy knows that only two things can make an excellent fishing trip: your positive attitude and a skilled captain.
